SCRIPTURAL REFERENCES (SASTRA PRAMANA) TO HINDU & HINDUSTHANA

THESE VERSES WERE DELIVERED BY PARAMASHIVA, THE PRIMORDIAL GOD TO HIS CONSORT, PARASHAKTI.

1) SCRIPTURE: SHAIVA AGAMA (MERU TANTRA)

ORIGINAL VERSE:

मेरु तंत्र ( शैव ग्रन्थ) में हिन्दू शब्द

‘हीनं च दूष्यत्येव हिन्दुरित्युच्चते प्रिये’

TRANSLITERATION:

MERU TANTRA (ŚAIVA GRANTHA) MEṂ HINDŪ ŚABDA

‘HĪNAṂ CA DŪṢYATYEVA HINDURITYUCCATE PRIYE’

TRANSLATION: O MY DEAR! ONE WHO RENOUNCED IGNORANCE AND INFERIORITY IS CALLED A HINDU.

2)SCRIPTURE: SHABD KALPADRUM

ORIGINAL VERSE: हीनं दूषयति इति हिन्दू

TRANSLITERATION: HĪNAṂ DŪṢAYATI ITI HINDŪ

TRANSLATION: ONE WHO RENOUNCED IGNORANCE AND INFERIORITY IS CALLED A HINDU.

3)SCRIPTURE: BRIHASPATI AGAMA

ORIGINAL VERSE:

हिमालयं समारभ्य यावत इन्दुसरोवरं।

तं देनिर्मितं देशं हिन्दुस्थानं प्रचक्षते।।

TRANSLITERATION:

HIMĀLAYAṂ SAMĀRABHYA YĀVATA INDUSAROVARAṂ।

TAṂ DEVANIRMITAṂ DEŚAṂ HINDUSTHĀNAṂ PRACAKṢATE।।

TRANSLATION:STARTING FROM THE HIMALAYAN MOUNTAINS AND EXTENDING TO THE INDIAN OCEAN, GOD CREATED COUNTRY IS CALLED HINDUSTHANA.
